Custom Shell Engineer-Led Integrated Design
Engineers responsible for crafting the ST Series custom in-ear shells under the group brand “Acoustune” employ precise dimensional design and meticulously selected materials. Recognizing that most ear canals are elliptical rather than perfectly circular, we conducted correlation analysis based on ear impression data from over 500 individuals. This led to the adoption of an elliptical shape ratio that delivers stable fit and secure seal.

Umbrella section design combining a sense of enclosure with wearability
The dome portion of the ear tip is the part that directly contacts the ear. While increasing pressure enhances the seal and stability, it has also been a cause of itching and pain during prolonged wear. For the MDX30, as mentioned earlier, we reduced the burden on the ear by adopting an elliptical shape and setting the dome material to a softness similar to the inner ear canal.
Furthermore, the design of the dome section that contacts the ear canal has been flattened. This allows for a wider contact area within the ear canal while reducing pressure. This achieves both a comfortable fit and a secure seal.

Shaft design ensuring adaptability and strength within the ear canal
The stem portion of the ear tips employs a material harder than the dome material, incorporating internal ribs to suppress deformation within the stem cavity. This allows the softer dome section to fit securely within the ear canal, achieving natural acoustic characteristics with minimal coloration.
Furthermore, the stem is designed longer to enable natural insertion deep into the ear canal, thanks to a dome design that minimizes pressure within the ear canal.
